Obesity
is a big issue in the USA and needs to be controlled. My research paper will
reveal the causes of obesity, its effects and also the measures that can be
taken in order to control, the rising obesity in America. An in-depth analysis
of obesity related problems will help the readers realize how the weight gaining
can be controlled. The research will be a positive contribution towards
maintaining a good health.
Thesis Statement:
Is the average American lifestyle the main cause of obesity?
Body 1:
Obesity is another name for being dangerously over weight, and is becoming a global problem, more than just an American. According to a research conducted by the WHO in 2005, around 1.6 billion adults were obese, whereas 20 million of those under the age of five were over weighted. Obesity causes numerous diseases, and is a serious medical condition, chronic diseases combined with blood pressure and many other fatal diseases being a few of many (Biltekoff, 2007) .
Body 2:
U.S.A has emerged as one the most powerful nations on the face of the world and with all the power and development there should have been a considerable development regarding health care and life expectancy. There has been quite some of this development, but the average American lifestyle has transformed into a frenzy, that is bubbling upon unhealthy practices. With health a second priority and money first, there is never enough time to exercise or have a proper meal.
Body 3:
The food that is healthy and available on the go, is very expensive and many of those who are struggling to make a living find it impossible to be able to afford anything but the cheap junk food that has become the national food of the country. With the ever increasing rate of obesity, we see many more people concerned with their health, and this is all because of all the ongoing awareness regarding obesity (Colleen L.
Barry, 2009) .
There are various reasons for this increase, American lifestyle being the foundations of it. The average American lifestyle employs all weight gaining practices, and on an average with the junk food and unhealthy eating habits they consume some 3,767 calories, on an average a day. And with little or no interest in the recommended physical activity to burn these calories and only three out of every ten people are able to get this essential amount of physical activity.
Body 4:
An average U.S person is able to burn just about 1850 calories on a regular day, this means an excess of 1900 calories everyday which makes it definite for them to put on weight, with an expenditure of around a 25 million dollars by the food industry, more unhealthy food is produced and provided to consumers than healthy food. This is because of the popularity of this unhealthy Junk food that has infused itself as an inseparable part of our society (Martin, 2005) .
This junk food is made up of some unhealthy additives; the food is over cooked and over processed and is therefore hardly a source of the essential nutrients required by the body for a proper growth. The food provides lesser energy and with slow break down leads to more storage of energy hence the overweight. Watching too much TV in time that you could have otherwise dedicated to a physical activity and the replacement of video games for physical sports is yet another cause for this rising concern regarding obesity (Panagopoulos, 2006) .

Conclusion:
How certain things are represented and symbolized is subjected to change, historically and socially, as people develop different tastes with time, foods and flavors infuse and with the fast pace and the ever tempting delicacies called the fast food, we find a resistance almost futile. This paper focuses on how a person is exploited by media to get more attention through the creation of interest; they are attracted towards Junk food (Miller, 2013) . These
representations have gone through a process of selection, construction and have
been encoded with different preferences dependent on what will appeal the
audience more, hence increasing both the taste for this unhealthy food as well
its sales. The average American lifestyle has no room for a healthy life style,
this maybe yet another reason for the ever increasing obesity (Anja Hilbert,
2007) .
